Benalmadena is geographically situated between Torremolinos and Malaga, constitutes one of the most important population centres of the Costa del Sol, reaching at peak summer season a population of over 60,000. There exists three urban centres which confer a special identity to Benalmadena. -On the mountain, is Benalmadena-Pueblo, origin and head of the town that, even today, maintains the peaceful and serene character of Andalusian mountain towns. The wide variety gastronomic offers bars and restaurants and its aspect of Andalusian mountain town, with white-washed houses completely filled with flowers, make it into an attractive destination for the visitor.

-Nearer the coast is situated Arroyo de la Miel, real commercial and business centre which, with an unstoppable growth, constitute one of the most vigorous zones in the area.

-Lastly, adjacent to the seaside and centred around an extensive promenade, is Benalmadena-Costa, great traditional, cosmopolitan place with magnificent leisure and recreation on offer in which its maritime yachting harbour, which has more than 1,000 berths, stands out.

Benalmadena has a diverse and modern hotel trade which, together with its endless premises of all sorts: bars, pubs, discotheques... and its cultural and entertainment centres ( Cable-car, Casino Torrequebrada, Sea-Life Aquarium, Selwo Marina, Pre-Colombian Archaeological Museum, Exhibition Centre, Auditorium, Tivoli World, etc...), make this city into a permanent focal point not only for tourists in search of a few days of fun but also for meetings and scientific, political or business conferences.

Besides you can arrive to Benalmadena by road (motorway A-7 or N-340), train with Cercanias of Renfe (line C-1) linked in one side to Malaga and in the other to Fuengirola and finally the airport is only 15 minutes from Arroyo de la Miel or Benalmadena-Costa.

Another interesting dates about the municipality can be that the distance from Malaga is around 21 km and Benalmadena-Pueblo is 280 metres over the level of the sea. The municipality is situated very near the Mountains of Mijas, takes up 27 km2, enjoys an average temperature of 18ºC and 2,920 hours of sun.

The anually rainfall is about 610 litres/m2 and its population it must be getting on 45,686 inhabitants according to the latest statistics.
