La Farola

In the 19th century, the "La Farola", the work of the engineer Joaquín María Pery y Guzman, was built. It is a lighthouse located in the port of Malaga. It is one of the symbols of Malaga since it gave the entrance to Malaga to all ships and visitors by sea. The works began in the year 1816 to finish halfway through 1817, In the time of Fernando VII. In 1885 the lamp was reformed and equipped with a new light system, in addition to a tower of about 4 meters above the tower. Due to an earthquake and the unfortunate state in which it remained, it was restored. In 1909 the existing house was enlarged and the original facade was reformed.

Currently and due to the works of extension of the port, the tower has been in the center of the port of malaga, it is foreseen the transfer of its location once the works are finished so that it returns to welcome all those who decide to visit us by sea.
