1972-1999 · The beginnings

1972

Marbesol is born

Marbesol Viajes was founded in 1972 as a travel agency. Growing demand for rental cars on the Costa del Sol led, just a few months later, to the creation of Marbesol Rent a Car as a key service of the agency. Always with the vision of creating a different kind of car rental company: close, honest and truly customer-focused. With just 20 vehicles and plenty of enthusiasm, we began our journey in Marbella.

Fleet expansion

The growth of tourism on the Costa del Sol drove our first major expansion. We increased our fleet, improved our services and began extending our presence to different branches in Marbella, Calahonda, Fuengirola, Torremolinos and Nerja. During this stage, the foundations were laid for what defines our philosophy today: offering quality vehicles at fair prices, with no small print.

Consolidation as a local company

By the late 1990s, Marbesol was already recognised as a trusted brand among local car rental companies. Our local knowledge and personalised service set us apart long before the arrival of multinational brands, which is why we still enjoy the loyalty of visitors who have been returning to us season after season for over 25 years.

We reached an important milestone: 500 vehicles in our fleet. This figure reflected the trust placed in us by thousands of customers and our ability to offer a wide variety to suit all tastes and needs.

Arrival at Malaga Airport

A key milestone in our history: we established our presence at Malaga-Costa del Sol Airport. This allowed us to welcome visitors from the very moment they arrived, offering a convenient and efficient service.

Digital transformation

We launched our online booking platform, allowing customers to reserve their vehicle quickly and easily from anywhere in the world. Technology at the service of convenience.

Our fleet tripled in size, incorporating the latest models on the automotive market. From efficient economy cars to family SUVs and convertibles to enjoy the Malaga sunshine.

Sustained growth

The new millennium brought an unprecedented tourism boom to the Costa del Sol. Marbesol adapted successfully, expanding services and constantly improving the customer experience. Our reputation grew through word of mouth.

We modernised our facilities to offer an even better experience. New, more comfortable offices, improved signage and more streamlined processes so customers can spend their time enjoying Malaga.
