Museums, monuments and corners with centuries of history, from the Alcazaba to Picasso's Málaga.
Málaga has around forty museums, many of them within a short walk of each other in the historic centre: the Picasso Museum in the painter's home town, the Centre Pompidou at the port and the Carmen Thyssen Museum, among others. You can see several in a single day without taking the car.
On top of that, almost three thousand years of history are on display. The city began as Phoenician Malaka, was later Roman and Moorish, and each period left its mark: the Roman Theatre at the foot of the Alcazaba, Gibralfaro Castle on top of the hill and the Cathedral right in the centre.
Here you will find the city's museums and its most important monuments, with what you need to know to visit them.
